Theatre Royal Wakefield Gala Dinner and Performance 2019
On the 15th March 2019 the Theatre Royal Wakefield held its annual Gala Dinner at Wakefield Cathedral, with two hundred and eighty guests dining at the Cathedral and then being entertained at the Theatre itself. DSM Productions were proud to have been sponsors for such an amazing night along with supplying all the audio and power distribution for the Cathedral dinner and some of the lighting for the Theatre performance.
The evening started with a two course meal which was then followed by an auction hosted by Wakefield’s resident Dame, Chris Hannon. From the Cathedral, guests made their way down to the Theatre Royal itself where BBC Radio Leeds’ very own Nick Ahad hosted the gala performance. The performance brought together comedy, singing, dance, magic and culture to entertain the audience – even DSM’s managing director made an appearance on stage and the Performance Academy showcased their talents with a performance from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory followed by Gala Performance Dancers raising the roof with a dance classic.
As supporters of the Theatre Royal Wakefield, and with our roots with the Theatre, it is always great to be able to get involved and support local causes. Despite spending most of our time behind the scenes we enjoy hearing the feedback that comes from not only the gala committee but also the guests.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank the Theatre Royal Wakefield for allowing us to be able to give something back to not only our local community but also the industry that we call ours. DSM is founded on entertainment and the arts and we can certainly say we love what we do!
The gala, which is held every year, helps to raise funds for the Theatre Royal Wakefield Performance Academy enabling people from the Wakefield District to access world class tuition in acting, singing and dance. The money raised goes towards offering a bursary to help with tuition fees to some of the more less fortunate youngsters in Wakefield as well as supporting various programmes to help disabled, elderly, isolated, refugees and asylum seekers take part in theatre arts. If you’d like to get involved with Theatre Royal Wakefield or for more information on supporting a bursary then please get in touch with sarah.shooter@theatreroyalwakefield.co.uk
