8th November 2016 – DSM Productions Limited was born under the stairs in Ossett
On the 8th November 2016 DSM Productions Limited became an incorporated company and our only base of operations was in a 3m x 1m cupboard under a stairwell in some borrowed space in Ossett. 5 years later the company has become a 6 figure business operating out of a 3,000 sq.ft warehouse which includes office, storage and a 35m2 virtual streaming studio… and of course we survived a global pandemic. We’ve recently taken on new staff and are looking to expand our payroll even further. We have a client base of both private & public sector companies, local & international, SME’s & FTSE100 businesses who have all trusted us to deliver their events.

When the Coronavirus pandemic hit in March 2020 we saw our diary empty within 48hours… the industry we love came to a standstill. After 6 months of shut down, the 5 years business plan started to fade into the distance but by sheer perseverance, determination and reputation we’ve managed to pull it back on track – no easy task when the first 4 months of year 5 were still shut down… but we’re not going to dwell on this!
Instead, we wanted to celebrate what we’ve achieved in such a small space of time – here’s a look back at some of the work we’ve done in the last 60 months
Our values and goals
Reliability, reputation, service & integrity
Our key fundamentals of business which include delivering well maintained and industry leading equipment, on time service & the inability to say No to a client means we have been able to forge ourselves an outstanding reputation. From last minuet additions to complete event management we go that extra mile to ensure that our clients receive the very best service.
We operate a rigorous equipment maintenance schedule and carry out most repairs in house to ensure that all of our equipment is fit for service the second it leaves our warehouse.
Our Charity work & support for the Arts
We are strong supporters of good causes and work with a number of local charities, such as Wakefield Children’s Charity & Community Foundation for Wakefield District, in helping deliver events for them at a heavily reduced rate and in some circumstances free of charge. Our Managing Director also has strong roots in theatre, stemming back to his younger days as a performer, and as such we have the pleasure of being able to extend this support to various arts institutions such as Theatre Royal Wakefield and The Hepworth Wakefield. We’re proud to support our local theatre and help to support the future of our young people in the district.
Our environmental impact and sustainability targets
The event industry can inherently be a wasteful business and no event is ever the same. As such a lot of material can go to waste upon completion of a job such as carpet, timber, metal work and more. Take a step into our warehouse and you’ll find our ‘pre-loved’ area where we keep hold of used materials and recycle them into either new set or used elsewhere – all in an attempt to reduce the amount of waste going to landfill. We always buy recycled stationary where we can and recycle our waste where possible.
Our vehicles are maintained to a high standard and are all ULEZ compliant helping to keep our carbon footprint down… and if that wasn’t enough, we’re also part of the AllStar Ecopoint scheme which plants trees on our behalf to offset the carbon we produce.
We may only be a small company in an extremely large pond but hopefully we can make a difference.
What does all of this mean?
Simply put – We want to ensure that the fundamental values of our business are forged in stone so that over the next 15 years of growth we can continue to support our community and the world we live in.
